Just auto-resolve every battle to make it speedy - making sure your own troops are suitably experienced, of course. Working up to Clan Tier 1 can be done mostly facing Looters, Forest Bandits, and the like. Taking out, say, 32 looters with 24 of your own troops will net you decent renown. Whether you are just starting out or you’re fairly established in the game, this is a golden rule to follow. For the fastest results, your go-to strategy should be to take on groups of enemies slightly larger in number than your own.
